It’s Bike Week here in Colonial Beach. It is also 7AM and the first “I’m up so
you’re up” Harley of the day just went by.
Loud pipes, first gear, and definitely not doing the 5-mph camp speed
limit by about +30 mph. Bless him. Those pipes do sing! I’m sure all the folks here who were still
party’ing last night when I slipped away about 10 are just as grateful for his
rooster-crow early morning of the day greeting as I am. Especially those who were singing and playing
grab-ass around my rig at 2 AM. Bless them.
Kim’s daughter, Christen, is here. Love that girl! She flew in yesterday. An interesting story is when she was younger,
she wanted to do something different, so she joined the Army. And they wanted her skills (legal something)
so badly she went into the military with more stripes on her sleeve than
I had when I got out of the Air Force.
My, my, talent, education, intelligence, and experience are really good
things that will take you far. Sometimes
I wish I had some.
I went to brother Scott’s house in Deale, MD
yesterday. He bought a small, neglected
house right on the waters of a bay and turned it into a show-case beauty. He owns a house inspection service so he
knows all about building codes and regs, and he’s an excellent
carpenter, and has great imagination, and the house now looks
like one of those historic homes owned by a famous fore father you might go to visit. And the grounds are beautiful to boot. I stand in awe.
We went together to visit my sister Natalie. She’s four years older than me and in great health. She has a really nice apartment in a really
nice complex, and it is not an assisted living type place. She tried one of those, but said it seemed to
be filled with old people being fed bad food, so she bailed out and went back
on her own. Good on her! And I will say, “Typical Del Monte.”
The weather is beautiful this morning, but
serious rain is expected later or tomorrow.
The tide is going to rise and although Kim’s place stays high and dry,
the spot I was going to move to is on a lower level, so I am going to stay
where I am until the storm passes.
Enough for now.
Oh yeah, I looked for my white truck buddy last
night on my way home in the dark, but I didn’t see him. I guess he was busy. Bless him.
