Caney RV Resort. POSH. Way too POSH for an overnight stay. Not as POSH as Pleasantville RV Resort Community in Florida was, but they do have lots of golf carts for cruisin' and wave'n.
BTW: I'd like to apologize to the world for referring to Siri as Alexa in yesterday's post. Apparently, she reads my blog and boy-howdy did she give me an earful this morning! Then she pouted and ignored me all day.
On the other hand, I had the highlight of the trip today because I found a Buc-ee's! If you don't know about Buc-ee's try to imagine a gas station with 120 gas pumps and a store/restaurant the size of a football field. Clean store, really good food, and friendly employees. It's more of a destination than a gas station. AND, they don't allow 18-wheelers onto the property. Just cars, small trucks, busses and RVs. So, it's not a truck-stop.
On the other, other hand I also had another RV related lowlight this morning.
Preface:
1. RV's have Air Conditioners for cooling. On the roof.
2. Some air conditioners have heat pumps built in for gentle heating.
3. RV's also have gas (propane) forced air furnaces built in and ducted to the rooms, for serious heating.
Situation:
1. I had both the A/C's on the coach replaced with new A/C's, neither of which includes a heat pump. (Me no like heat pumps. It's a personal thing.)
2. I didn't know that at least one of the old A/C's had a heat pump built in.
3. The "controller(s)" that control the A/C's expect to find A/C's with at least one heat pump.
4. I THINK that since there are no heat pumps to be found, the controllers won't turn on the furnace because the furnace, him don't come on! At all. Nada, Zilch.
5. Interestingly, I have never used the furnace for heat in any of my rigs because they use propane, which I have to buy, and I have always had small electric room heaters that kept the coaches warm, and they use electricity that the camps supply. Cheap me.
6. But I don't have any electric heaters in this rig because I figgered it was gonna be a WARM trip and wouldn't need them. Silly me.
7. But this morning it was a bit chilly, and I turned on the furnace and found him no go for all of reasons the above. I think.
So Now:
1. I got some figgering and thinkin' to do to decide ....
2. Can the "controllers" be configured for "No Heat Pumps, Furnace Only" function?
3. Can I install a separate thermostat for the propane furnace? (Maybe, possibly.)
4. Should I just buy a couple of electric heaters like I always do, and not worry about the lack of furnace? Answer: Gonna do this anyway.
5. Could I install an electric furnace in place of the propane furnace and thereby use the rig's internal heat ducting? Probably way too expensive for a non-problem solved by #4 above.
Stand by for updates!
I will be at brother Greg's house tomorrow. Generator first. Furnace a distant second or never.
Later,
Rusty Pistons, 1st Officer.
