Monday, October 16, 2023 – Home in Phoenix

We arrived in Phoenix about 4 PM on the 12th.

Interestingly the drive from Flagstaff to Phoenix was one of the most harrowing of the trip due to the construction.  Apparently, I-17 (an Interstate that doesn’t go Interstate) is being either widened or having additional reversable lanes added.  Dunno which.  But the lanes are reduced to one, are bracketed by cement barriers, are very roughly surfaced, incredibly narrow, and zig-zaggery.  And that describes the good parts. It was scary!

I‘ve spent the last few days cleaning and emptying the rig and have scheduled a couple of people to come detail it and to fix (camouflage) a couple of dings in the windshield.  Once all that is done, I will list it for sale as there’s just no sense in letting it sit in the Arizona sun for a year or so before I decide to do another trip.  If I ever decide to do another trip.

I have client’s clamoring for attention, and I have put them off until later this week.  And to top all that off my iPhone has stopped ringing and no longer tells me when texts come in.  So, if you’ve been ignored for the last few days, that’s why.  Sorry.

This trip has been fun?  Well, at least interesting.  I sure enjoyed being with my family, and the motorcycle rides, and visiting the few tourists places we got to, and to FINALLY fixing the generator.  So, I guess that ends this on a high note.

Thursday, September 14, 2023 - And it started right up . . . .  Here we are.  In Roanoke, Virginia.  Camped in the parking lot of the Cummins Dealer. All hooked up and now blogging.  Gee, ain't life grand! Well, only sorta.  We pulled in about noon-ish and checked in a confirmed our appointment for tomorrow.  Then the service manager asked to hear the "banging" noise the generator was making when it was trying to start. No noise.  The genny started right up.  And ran just fine for the last 4 hours or so.  Wednesday, September 13th, 2023 - Second Post Today. Tirade 1:  Ms. Shawn arrived this morning, crashed for a couple of hours, and then we launched the rig and headed North/West up towards Roanoke, VA.  We hadn't planned to actually make it to Roanoke, and we didn't. Not because we couldn't, it was more because of the Google BIB.  If you know "BIB" laugh, if you don't, don't ask.  We were an hour out from the big "R" when she tried to send us down a cow trail road which I refused to accept and turned around and now we are back down on a nice highway (Rt 58) at a Mom & Pop RV Camp, and the owner told me there is a much easier, more major road (Rt 220) to big "R" just seven miles away.  Moral:  Never trust the BIB and be willing to refuse her directions if they just don't feel right.   Thursday, October 05 th , 2023.   So, how’d she do dat?   DID she do dat? Interesting question in the header. The “she” is a very nasty lady sitting in her car, looking at/working with what appeared to be an iPhone, in the gas lane at a Buc-ees Gas station and blocking me in.   When asked if she would move to another parking spot she snappily (as in not nice) replied, “I’ll move when I move!” I said, “Yes Ma’am,” and walked over to the entrance of the store and asked for a security type employee.   But by the time he arrived she had moved, so the situation was over. Or so I thought . . . A few minutes ago, I got an email asking me if I had ‘attempted’ to buy $xxx.xx worth of gas (correct dollar amount) at Buccees (misspelled) on October 3 rd , and if so to “click here” to clear up the yadda-yadda-yadda , with several capitalization errors, and words misspelled.   So, the question(s) are: 1.     Was there a skimmer on the...
