Saturday, September Twenty-threeth, 2020-threeth.

There is a storm marching up the east coast.  Rained here all night.  Kim said it was quite heavy, but I slept thru it and didn’t notice.  The tide is in and about two feet higher than normal.  Kim’s lower deck is under water, but the upper half is still dry.  He thinks the water will rise more and I ‘spect he’s right but as a dyed-in the -wool desert rat I have no idea.  The rig is on a rise another two feet higher than Kim’s upper deck, so I do not expect any water/rig socializing.

I’m using this rainy-time to explore converting from PC’s and MS-Windows to an Apple computer.  I’ve just about exhausted all my patience with MS-Outlook, Mail, Outlook, One-Drive, and the Cloud.  I bought MS Office-360 and Outlook with this computer and now I have Outlook that lets me send emails but not receive them, and “Mail” which lets me receive emails but not send them.  So, I’m using Outlook for sending and my I-Phone for receiving and ignoring “Mail” as it doesn’t seem to be able to find my contacts anyway.  Also, it appears I must buy an upgraded “Mail” to use the “Group” Contact’s function and Outlooks “Group” function blows.  So, I’m really close to closing out a 50-year relationship with my buddy Bill. (Gates.)  Sometimes I really wish I had never lent him my copy of FDM-DOS when he was trying to write PC-DOS.

If there are any Apple users out there who went thru the Windows/Apple conversion and can make specific suggestions I’d appreciate it.

1.      1.  Which Apple confuser to buy.  ($750 to $1200 range? I need a laptop, so it is portable.)

2.      2.  Which Apple software package to buy, preferably without a yearly contract.  (I use Word, Excel, Outlook, and need a good SIMPLE photo editor.)

3.      3.  How to transfer all my documents and customer data files from my office PC.

4.      4.  And any words of advice, such as: “Yes! Do it!  Great decision!” or “Don’t even consider it without first locking up all your firearms and having an experience Apple guru sitting next to you.”

Kim just told me my brother Guy and the 7th Del Monte son, Wayne Hager, are coming down here today.  I haven’t seen Wayne in years so that will be nice.

Cousin Chris McNulty is doing breakfast tomorrow.  He may have to re-think the seating plans as the group may have increased a double-bit.  As of now I THINK it is His mom and dad, and me, Scott, Kim (maybe), Christin (maybe), Guy?? (could be, maybe, possibly).  (Hi Chris!!)  A firmer count should coagulate by this afternoon.

Later,

Rusty Pistons.

  2. If your email is not working, I can fix it. That's what I do daily. If you still want to move to Apple I can probably help you with that. Your Microsoft 365 license will be good for your Mac also, so you will be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.on the Mac. When are you back to the desert?
