Tuesday, September 12, 2023.  Ten forward, nine back . . .

My momma (that's Southern for Mother) used to say, "Sometimes you take ten steps forward and then nine steps back."  It do (Southern for does) make progress slow!

I left Greg's about 9:30 this morn'n (Southern for morning) and about 10:30 realized the generator had taken another crap.  (Southern for failed.)  Him no go.   Him no start.  Him piece of %^$#%&^%!!. (Southern and Yankee for %^$#%&^%!!.)

I called Greg and he panicked as he assumed I was dead or something, but I told him, "No, the genny just died again."  And this was after he and I had put the new fuel pump in and had the genny running for about six hours at his house!  So, he suggested I call the Cummins Dealer in Greensboro as that was on my way to Raleigh and so I did, and I spoke with an incredibly helpful fellow who really went over and above all definitions of help and he actually had an appointment opening tomorrow, but I had to pick up Ms. Shawn tomorrow at the Raleigh-Durham airplane patch and couldn't take it.  He looked further and his next appointment was the 19th and that was too late as we will (hopefully) be somewhere up in Northern Virginia by then.

So 1, then he checked another three or so Cummins repair shops and found me an appointment in Roanoke, Virginia on the 15th.  And I took it, even though it is a day trip out of our normal blast up Rt.95 to North VA.  But what the heck, WE ARE RETIRED!  So, a day's side trip is a piece of cake.

So 2, be assured (Greg) I tried the dealers in Richmond, Manassas, Raleigh, to no avail.  They were all booked out to the 20th and beyond.  So, I am doing a day's jig-jog and keeping the Roanoke appointment.

So 3, again, other than one of the lenses falling out of my glasses and being in an RV park fronted by the biggest horse showing facility I've ever seen, it's been a good day.  Oh yeah, and the genny thing.

BTW, I should note that it actually is a very nice park, it's just that the horsey facility threw me for a loop, and I had to get out and ask a few folks if I was in the right place.  I was.  I am.  And the spots are nice, the grass is green (fertilizer?) and so far, nobody has been not nice.)

That's all.

Oh yeah, Shawn, I'm in spot 009.  So 4, make sure the driver drives through the horsey facility and finds the little road that goes over the little bridge and then enter the park and make the second left turn and then left again and I'm in the first row, frantically sweeping and mopping and putting fresh sheets on the bed.

Hmmm, I realized I'm using "So" a lot.  I will try to throttle it back a bit.  So there!
